Invisalign straightens your teeth and jaw with a series of removable oral appliances. The appliances are made of SmartTrack®, an FDA-approved thermoplastic free of gluten, latex, and BPS, making treatment safe for pregnant people and those with allergies.
Dr. Abdel-Hak and the team use Invisalign to treat various alignment problems, including:
You might also be a candidate for Invisalign if you have misplaced dental midlines or a malpositioned jaw that affects the way you bite, chew, or speak.
Before recommending orthodontics with Invisalign, Dr. Abdel-Hak reviews your dental records, performs an oral exam, and takes a series of oral X-rays. If you have mild or moderate alignment problems, like crooked teeth or a malpositioned jaw, Dr. Abdel-Hak moves forward with treatment.
He takes digital impressions of your mouth and uploads them to a computer program. The computer program allows Dr. Abdel-Hak to create a custom treatment plan that maps out the step-by-step movements of your jaw and teeth.
After finalizing the plan and explaining what to expect, Dr. Abdel-Hak sends your impressions to a nearby Invisalign lab. The Invisalign lab manufactures your first set of custom orthodontic aligners.
During treatment, you visit Ford Dental Group every few weeks for routine checkups. At each visit, Dr. Abdel-Hak monitors your progress and has you transition to a new set of Invisalign aligners. Each new set of aligners places slightly different pressure on your jaw and teeth.
The time that treatment with Invisalign takes depends on various factors, including your age, the alignment problems you are treating, and your commitment to Dr. Abdel-Hak’s care plan.
Most people achieve a more balanced smile in 12 months, but it may take up to 18 months or longer. Be patient and attend each of your scheduled checkups.
Your Invisalign aligners collect plaque, food particles, and tartar (hardened plaque). Therefore, it’s important to clean them regularly. Dr. Abdel-Hak recommends rinsing your aligners several times a day in cool tap water. You should also brush them with a soft-bristle toothbrush before going to bed.
